The draft 2025/26 – 2027/28 Resort Development Strategy and project overviews were approved by Council. The strategy will be submitted to the Province for review and approval. The RDS has been developed to outline the use of Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) funds for the next three-year term, with a focus on increasing tourism-based programs and services to further develop our tourism economy.

The new Public Alerting System Policy No.1.40 was adopted, which will guide the Village’s use of Alertable. Alertable is used for both emergency and non-emergency alerting that requires information to be rapidly communicated to the public. Be sure to sign up for Alertable here to stay informed.

Staff will be developing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion framework and plan to identify opportunities and best practices that support the safe inclusion of equity seeking groups in the Village. The development of a DEI framework and plan would be complimentary to the Village’s Anti-Racial Discrimination and Anti-Racism policy, which are currently being developed by staff for future consideration by Council.

Tax Rate Bylaw No. 1221, 2025 was given first three readings.

New Business: Council voted unanimously to waive the fees associated with hosting the 2025 Terry Fox Run. Register here for the run happening on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Notice of Motion: Mayor Talen introduced a Notice of Motion regarding the Dike Upgrade. At the May 5, 2025 regular Council meeting, Council will consider the resolution to raise the dike to Provincial standards subject to several conditions, including minimizing fixed features that would adversely affect the view from Esplanade Avenue and directing staff to return to Council with recommendations regarding a deployable flood protection system.
